Helping you save time
Having a chip or a crack in your windscreen can be worrying. A cracked windscreen can be dangerous as windscreens are designed to shatter and can be an integral part of your car’s load bearing structure. So if your vehicle is involved in an accident and your car already has a cracked windscreen, it may not protect you as maybe it should.
Getting a chip fixed is generally a quick process and if you’ve not bought Comprehensive cover for your vehicle, with Octagon’s Windscreen Protection cover you won’t have to pay an excess to get chips fixed. Chips or cracks which are 10cm long or less can usually be repaired. Anything more than 10cm usually results in the entire windscreen needing to be replaced.
Having a cracked windscreen is considered dangerous and can result in your vehicle failing its annual MOT, so to save you time and money get the crack fixed or replace the windscreen before the test. You’ll only have to pay the excess and the Windscreen Protection cover will pay the rest of the cost. Depending on whether you choose to use a recommended supplier or not will determine the excess you will pay.
You can help prevent damage to your windscreen and weakening by ensuring you using a proper ice scraper and a de-icer to remove frost and ice. Repair any chips and cracks as soon as possible as the changing temperatures will cause the windscreen to expand and contract potentially making small chips and cracks worse.
